2011 Scholar Outing

Five Scholars and their managers enjoyed a day 'lunch and learning' in Chicago this past Wednesday! After an informative and beautiful architectural boat tour on the Chicago river, the group headed to Millennium Park to explore the grounds and enjoy lunch at the Millennium Park Grill. With the sunny sky, sparkling river, beautiful buildings, and tasty food, all left with smiles on their face and a greater appreciation of Chicago. Scholars, which building impressed you the most?

  1. 333 W Wacker Drive! - the one that curves and reflects the river/buildings

    Also-all buildings spotted in Transformers 3 :)

  3. So much beautiful architecture--hard to decide what was my favorite. Was definitely impressed by the Trump Tower, which I'd never really paid attention to despite its being so new to the city. Love how the different levels of the building salute various other buildings in the city.

  4. My favorite building is the trapezoidal-shaped living complex with the solar powered roof. The building isn't particularly beautiful in its aesthetics, but it's certainly inspirational in its sustainability efforts.

The Bean is another piece of Chicago architecture that I love. The world's largest reflective Jelly Belly bean (don't quote me on that haha.) So cryptic (why the shape of a bean?), yet so awesome (why NOT?)
